July 29th, 2007

For years Mr Brown was obsessed with red ties.  Now he’s obsessed with blue ties.

Sources close to Mr Brown insist there has been no makeover.

Why do you think Gordon’s gone blue?

Save Our Post Offices

July 29th, 2007

blogpost.jpg

On Saturday we continued our ‘Save the Post Offices Campaign’ – nearly 5,000 people across West Wirral have now signed the petition demanding Wirral’s Post Offices remain open.

Labour has closed 22 Wirral Post Offices since 1997 and another 12 more offices are being threatened. Top of the list is Newton and who knows where else next.
Post Offices are the lifeblood of any community. They are vital local institutions, just like a local school or pub. When a local Post Office closes, neighbouring small businesses often suffer a drop in trade.

The Conservatives have many great ideas to protect the national and Wirral Network. I am working with Wirral’s Conservative Councillors on local initiatives but with residents support I believe we can make a difference to the beleaguered and much valued post office network here in Wirral.”
We started our petition in June in Hoylake and have taken it to Greasby, Newton, Upton, Irby, West Kirby, Meols and yesterday we were in Pensby. The enthusiasm from members of the public was just fantastic. Nobody wants the already bealeagured network threatened anymore and I believe that network is stronger and more able to defend itself from Labour’s needless attacks with so much public backing.

Your comments please. What does the Post Office mean to you?

Wirral Rocks the Summer Pops

July 23rd, 2007

omd-blog.jpgblog.jpg

The annual series of ‘Summer Pops’ concerts came to an end on Saturday night with the final performance  being given by OMD – 4 lads from Wirral – and what a concert and final night it turned out to be - The whole audience was up, singing and dancing from the very beginning.

All of the band come from Wirral, ex Hilbre High School and Caldy Grammar School boys…… they even played their very first ‘gig’ at Hilbre High School – And not forgetting their roots they returned to Hilbre high School the other week to be the guest speakers at the launch of Hilbre High School as a Humanities College.

As I’ve had several comments and emails relating to ‘Tesla Girls’ I’ve uploaded a version from Youtube!!!

George Osborne MP -Shadow Chancellor – launches Wirral Conservative Business Club

July 22nd, 2007

blog-george.jpg

Picture L to R: Richard Menagh(Machine shop manager) Steve Devon (work shop manager) myself and George Osborne MP -Shadow Chancellor-

George Osborne came to Wirral to visit Heap and Partners in Hoylake as well as to launch the

Wirral Conservative Business Club – should you want to get involved please email me directly on Esther@wirralwestconservatives.co.uk

Heap and Partners of Hoylake (with offices in Wirral, Manchester and Tyneside & employing 100 people) export all over the world and truly is one of the country’s great manufacturing success stories

Heap and Partners latest invention is a system, created here on the Wirral, that turns vegetable oil into biodeisel.

Did you know the UK is one of the lowest users of Biodiesel

Why? Because it’s the most heavily taxed in Europe.

In contrast Germany is the highest user of Biodiesel because there is no tax (excise duties) on it.

There are no excise duties in Austria, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Spain Sweden and very low ones in France – Why isn’t that the case in the UK?
